I’m pleased to offer a selection of the exact same luxury yarn bases I use to dye my WayfaringYarns line to you as BARE yarn for your dyeing pleasure.

All WayfaringYarns fibers are ethically sourced from suppliers with the highest standards in regards to animal husbandry and the environment. No animals are harmed to provide our fiber. We only source shorn fiber and fiber that has shed naturally from the animal.

Arcadia

A space of bountiful nature and splendor, a perfect garden inhabited by shepherds and their flocks. 

Arcadia is a worsted spun yarn (less pilling!) made from 100% Australian extra fine, superwash treated merino wool. Available in fingering, dk, aran and bulky weights, this yarn is silky smooth with the superior softness and bounce that has made merino famous as the most desirable wool in the world.

Arcadia fingering (4-ply) – 100% superwash Extra Fine Merino, 100 grams, approximately 435 yards/400 meters

High Twist Minis

Two plies are twisted tightly together to produce a very soft and springy yarn.  The 2 plies make the yarn slightly bumpy which helps the strands of yarn hold together against each other making it great for colourwork and lace work. The thicker strands also help speckles pop even more. Because of the nylon content, this yarn is great for all garments, including mitts and socks.

Monaco

A country known for its luxury, wealth and breathtaking beauty.

Monaco is a soft, squishy, single ply, superwash, fingering weight yarn.  This single ply yarn soaks up the dye, creating rich, vibrant colors.  Spun from Extra Fine Merino, this yarn is perfect for hats, shawls, cowls and sweaters. This base is a favorite for dyers because the single-ply yarn soaks up the dye quickly resulting in vibrant colors.

Sparkle

Sparkle is a gorgeous 4-ply fingering weight yarn that has a beautiful bounce and takes dye like a dream. This sparkle material is Lurex, which is superior for dyeing, because the shine of the Lurex is not dulled in the dyeing process. It’s also very strong and does not fray with use.

Wayfarer

A person who journeys and travels from place to place on foot. 

Wayfarer is my bestseller and is a wonderful yarn choice for any garment, including socks!  This worsted spun 4-ply yarn is a blend of extra fine merino and cashmere with a bit of nylon added for durability.  The cashmere compliments the merino, adding softness and a gentle halo to the finished fabric. Because cashmere is a little more dense than merino, this yarn takes dyes a little slower, still resulting in a saturated dye, but a bit softer than 100% merino.
